Thomas Juul-Hansen , born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark is an interior design and architect. He got his bachelor in Architecture from University of Miami and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University. After working at Richard Meier and partners architects in New York, he founded Thomas Juul-Hansen, LLC in 2003.
Since its foundation in 2003, Thomas Juul-Hansen, LLC has developed a diverse body of design work including residential, hospitality, retail, and interiors. With each project, the firm explores unique and innovative formal solutions to provoke a notion of timeless manifesto through thoughtful investigations of contextual sensitivity, materiality, and customization. The interior conversion project of five pre-war townhouses in Belgravia encompasses the mediation between contemporary and historic london through methodical planning and assiduous articulation. the twelve unit, six story project serves as a reconstruction from commercial use program to refined residences.
The new addition to the high line district in West Chelsea features two ten-story buildings enveloping both sides of the elevated linear park. celebrating the rebirth of the historic railway, the two vertical structures seemingly float above the refined glass and dark metal podium, intersecting through a joint entry lobby spanning directly below the high line.
Drawing inspiration from neighboring structures on the upper west side, the articulation of the eighteen story residential infill block features handmade danish masonry brick work and solid mahogany framed windows. While the twenty-five unit building exploit the benefits of a glass building, it remains sensitive and responsive to the character of its surrounding context. all living areas feature fully operational fenestration with juliet balconies, while cascading stepped terraces on upper floors offer uninterrupted views of the hudson river.
The interiors of the tribeca building conversion project encompasses the combination of open loft living with the privacy of traditional residential design, united by a meticulous level of craftsmanship and material selections. Three triplex townhouses include a private spa on the lower level featuring steam rooms, saunas and 50 ft glass walled lap pools.
The nineteen story, fifteen unit condominium building explores the notion of timeless modernity through the mediation between old and new gotham in the historic upper east side. elongated proportions on the facade employ fluted solid limestone panels with oversized windows, offering residences the benefits of a glass building while retaining the privacy of a pre-war structure. Featuring full-floor apartments with direct elevator entry, unit sizes vary from 20 ft ceiling townhouses with a private garden, three to four bedroom residences, duplexes and a triplex penthouse.
A boutique condominium development for the interiors of the Kohn Peterson fox designed construct. The soft sensibility and modern simplicity found within the interiors of the sixteen residences work in contrast with the steel facade amidst the historic cast iron district of Soho. Each unit features entry vestibules with direct elevator access; the building includes a duplex penthouse with a roof pool.
