
A department of United Nations has a World Heritage List and here is 6 lesser-known UNESCO World heritage to visit this year.
Some places of the list are from lost civilizations, others have inspirational natural beauty and some are just the result of human genius.
In the last years, UNESCO has expanded the list to include more traditional cultures around the world. This is a way that U.N. has to draw attention to the value of people living in a variety of cultures and ecosystems over a long arc of time.

Iguazu National Park (border of Brazil and Argentina)
Iguazu National Park is located on the border between Brazil and Argentina, where the Iguazu River breaks into majestic cascades surrounded with the forest life.
Al Hijr (Saudi Arabia)
The Nabataean civilization, which thrived from the second or third century BCE through the pre-Islamic period. These people were adept at creating monumental facades in natural sandstone formations, as you can see in the picture above.

Antequera Dolmens Site (Spain)
The Antequera Dolmens Site in Southern Spain it’s composed by five monuments from the Neolithic and Bronze Ages.
Maya Site of Copán (Honduras)
These stunning ruins evoke the mystery of the Mayan Empire, with its step pyramids and hieroglyphs.

Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay has more than 1,600 island and islets, which are predominantly wild and untouched.
The Great Rift Valley (Kenya)
The Great Rift Valley is the home to an exceptional congregation of flamingos, pelicans, among other amazing creatures.
