The small house situated on a lava field on the Big Island of Hawaii, designed by Will Beharharz (designer and architect), shows the world that the term impossible is overvalued.

This small residence is called by Phoenix House, mirroring its purest essence at the base of the Kīlauea volcano. This volcano has been erupting continuously since 1983.

This holiday home emerges from a project by Will Beharharz, founder of the sustainable tourism company ArtisTree. So that you can enjoy this space, visitors need to walk 6.4 km and can see and appreciate at 30 m the magnificence of molten lava in the sea with steam created with the coal of hot liquid and cold water, this phenomenon visible from the home.

All the materials used in the construction were carefully thought out and structured for their realization.

The Phoenix House is coated with blackened wood carbonization technique from Shou Sugi Ban, to cover the entire roof was used recycled and oxidized corrugated metal; This way it was possible to unite the house with the surrounding environment in a harmonious way.

“We built this house with deep respect for Mother Earth,” Beilharz said. “For that reason, you will find the minimalist design, the light of the development footprint and the result is one with its surroundings.”

This house, despite being in an unusual place, can reach two floors at the highest point, with large windows that allow a greater and better connection with all the surroundings.

This house was designed and designed for total integration with its surrounding environment. This was one of the reasons for its construction at ground level, being elevated from the surface on short stilts to minimize its impact on plants beginning to sow the area.
