RICHARD MEIER,’ID’ Of The Week-Top 10 Interior Designers: Born on October 12, 1934, is currently 84 years old, he is from New Jersey and is also one of the most respected architects in the world. Get to know Richard Meier!

Richard Meier is an experienced and respected architect, was born in a Judean family in New York State, went to Columbia High School and obtained his degree in architecture at Cornell University in 1957.

After graduating he traveled around the world looking for contacts and experiences that would make him grow and evolve professionally. Meier is also the second cousin of Peter Eisenman, an architect, theorist, and fellow member of The New York Five.

In 1959, Meier worked for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, three years later joined Marcel Breuer and in 1967 will work for his cont. In 1972 he was recognized as one of The New York Five, a group of modernist architects: Meier, Peter Eisenman, Michael Graves, Charles Gwathmey, and John Hejduk.

Meier first gained significant recognition for his designs of various residences in addition to The Atheneum in New Harmony, Indiana (1979) and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia (1983)

Today, Richard Meier & Partners Architects has offices in New York and Los Angeles with current projects ranging from China and Tel Aviv to Paris and Hamburg.

Richard has won numerous awards in his area, in 1984 he achieved one of the most prestigious architectural awards of the world, the Pritzker Prize. In 1997 he won a gold medal in the AIA Gold Medal.
