Nook Residence by MU Architecture That Will Make Winter Sweeter

MU Architecture designed in Québec the Nook Residence which has a demure front facade with the back much more open and revealing. Strategically placed windows and an opening in the structure give a glimpse at the views of Lake Memphremagog in Mansonville.

The home is located on a steep lot that directed the design to point towards the lake. It’s made up of two volumes that are connected by a bending “ribbon” that joins the roofs together. The slanted walls create overhangs to protect the terraces from the sun.

Inside, there are polished concrete radiant floors, white walls, and cedar ceilings that continue through to the outdoor ceilings.

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame views for the multi-layered main living area.

The mostly black and dark wood kitchen is in contrast with the white walls and light wood ceilings.

The ground floor houses two large bedrooms, a bathroom, and a dormitory-style room with board-formed concrete walls.
