Hélène Van Marcke, designer and architect who creates in your image, beyond the obvious. We have the honour and the pleasure to present some of her best bathroom decors.
The designer from Ghent, Belgium, draws influence from the Arte Povera movement and historic American Shaker homes. Van Marcke established her design studios in Paris in 2013 and Ghent in 2017. She seeks for perfectly proportionate perspective, the perfect balance between light and shadow. As a source of inspiration, she uses the archetypes that surround her and the project, the history, the feelings and gives them a contemporary touch. Hélène said “I tend to choose my projects intuitively, based on the spirit and story of a place. To me, it’s important to respect the original design of an edifice and to honour its tradition, I like to know the story of the people who lived there.”
Van Marcke aims for creations with a strong impact and a timeless feel, a mix of softness and rigidity, spaces that are sophisticated without being pretentious and “always with a touch of retro humour.” And she gets her unique character when she contacts the client and let her imagination flows, which results in a spontaneous and personal approach to each project.
Another unique characteristic is that she considered herself as a homey person, she explained “I am obsessed with houses and would definitely describe myself as a homey person, which makes all my friends laugh because I haven’t slept in the same bed two weeks in a row since I was twelve, even now that I have a kid.”
In order to illustrate her uniqueness and to let you be inspired by her designs, we will present you with her best bathroom decors.
