ARTISAN AMETHYS: BATHROOM SINK

If the rest of the house can be redone, why leave the good old bathroom sink to something ordinary? We had some off-beat designs like the Bathroom sink Cadillac, Kohler PRO Cook center, and the UrbanEdge Sink collection. Now Franke Bathroom Systems and International Stone Collections have joined hands to create the special edition Amethyst Sink, which receives the designing expertise of Jake Levy. This one of a kind art piece needed the best and strongest of hands amongst craftsmen to create this present form. 500-lbs of amethyst was used for cropping down as the main sink’s base, which at the end was reduced to just 80-lbs. Then each crystal was hand-picked and placed in perfect placement around the unfinished vessel to bring about the final formation.

The raw amethyst from Uruguay which one sees here seems to be a rare one from the natural deposits, which are formed by geological occurrences called geodes. The sedimentary formation happens in certain types of volcanic rocks. The geodes have the amethyst inside the depository structure which needs to be split open and then each crystal then extracted individually. This grade of extraction in used for the finest grades of jewelry, which were known to be a favorite part of collections during the earliest years of Monarchy in Europe.

The marble which one sees here is perhaps one of the best one can get hands on. From Italy, the white calcatta marble legs have been created out from a solid block. The entire structure took almost a year to select and carefully craft through so that it manifests itself into the current form. It will now go on a mini-world tour beginning its journey from Kuwait, then the United Kingdom, and finally to Switzerland following which, it will be auctioned to the highest bidder.
