This year, the Mayfair Hotel is opening its doors again, celebrating that 1920s Hollywood glamour with its renovation by designer Gulla Jónsdóttir. However it will not open in time for this year’s Oscars, and its estimated that it will reopen in mid-April.
To reimagine this old-Holywood glamour with a modern twist, the interior designer immersed herself in the mindset and culture of the ’20s. Inspired by the Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, by Hemingway and Salvador Dalí, the designer brought this project to life.
To ensure the accuracy of the updates, Jónsdóttir and her team worked closely with the Los Angeles Historical Society.
