If you\u2019re planning to visit Barcelona later this year, make sure to put in your\u00a0script to visit architect Antoni Gaudi\u2019s first home<\/strong><\/em>, it will officially be open to the public as a museum in fall of 2017, reported Arch Daily<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 1883, the acclaimed architect built his first home, Casa Vicens, and with it came new design techniques and the birth of modernism.<\/p>\n

Located at 24 Carolines Street, this beautiful house set a new standard for its time, as one of the city\u2019s first Art Nouveau buildings, with a style of Neo-Mud\u00e9jar and hints of orientalist architecture.<\/p>\n

In the begging it was composed of four stories, the ground floor features a gallery and a waterfall located in a parabolic arch. Gaudi\u2019s love of color is also evident in the facade of the house.<\/p>\n

Later, the Jover family, who took ownership of the home, made significant changes to the property. The changes included turning the single-family dwelling into three separate homes, and a changing Gaudi\u2019s original staircase. The estate doubled in size and saw two more reconstructions between 1935 and 1964.<\/p>\n

In 1993, Casa Vicens<\/strong> became a historical monument, and in 2005 UNESCO<\/strong> declared the home a World Heritage Site<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
