Let\u2019s start with\u00a0The Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship.<\/a>\u00a0This is one of the biggest names of this Summit, but also of the entire Design World. For those who don\u2019t know, the\u00a0Michelangelo Foundation is an international non-profit entity that celebrates and preserves master craftsmanship and strengthens its connection to the world of design. They will be a valuable addition\u00a0to\u00a0this first edition\u2019s speakers roster because they will showcase their\u00a0plans and inputs of how to assure the preservation of the design and craftsmanship across the planet!<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Portuguese Luxury and Watchmaking Association<\/a>\u00a0is another relevant Guest Speaker of this first\u00a0Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit.<\/a>\u00a0 This is a private company which represents approximately 60 % of jewelry production in the North of Portugal, where we can find Oporto and Gondomar. It associates approximately 400 companies and encompasses goldsmiths, jewelers, watchmakers and other associated fields. They are strong advocates of Craftsmanship\u00a0and Luxury Design and that\u2019s why they will have a lot to add to this edition.<\/p>\n

In 1953, Ricardo do Esp\u00edrito Santo Silva, a well-known banker and collector made several donations to the Portuguese State that allow the creation of this\u00a0Foundation that serves as a Museum-School with the aim of protecting and disseminating the Portuguese Decorative Arts and the handicrafts related to them. The Foundation is responsible for the Museum of Portuguese Decorative Arts, but also for two schools where several craftsmanship Arts are taught and kept alive. To this day,\u00a0 the Foundation has 18 Portuguese traditional arts and crafts workshops that keep alive a very significant intangible heritage of savoir-faire and ensure a specialized intervention in the Portuguese heritage through the conservation and restoration laboratory. Who better than this Foundation to take part of a celebration of craftsmanship and design? So don\u2019t miss this Summit on the 20th and 21st of June.<\/p>\n
