Tavan Group clients inherited the wife’s childhood home and wanted to make it their own. The overall renovation occurred in two stages with the interior of the home being renovated first to accommodate the needs of this family’s busy lifestyle. Upstairs, the master bedroom was reimagined and upgraded. By removing a bedroom, Tavan Group created a second master walk-in closet and a full laundry room. Plus, the master ensuite bath is now a spacious spa-like oasis!

Located in Vancouver’s Point Grey area, this home boasts extensive floor to ceiling glass, that provides for amazing views and brings natural beauty in. The clean-lined home design is subtle and the incorporation of premium materials and finishes yields a simplistic elegance. This busy family of four loved the bones of this home, but it needed updating and improving. New Oak hardwood floors were installed throughout the main floor and new tile installed in the bathrooms. All spindles and handrails were reused, sprayed white and reinstalled.

While the styling leans heavily to English Tudor, the striking roof-gables suggest a French Chateau. The new homeowners were faced with big issues, with water damage appearing in the stairwell. At first, it just looked like a new roof was needed but upon close inspection it was apparent that the leaks were aggressive, causing water damage and windows rotting. Ninety per cent of the home’s exterior had to be removed and the exterior envelope has done correctly. The home received all new windows, siding, stone, posts and ballasts.

In a concrete-built home, Tavan Group first challenge was to completely strip the exterior cedar siding and replace it with properly finished cedar siding. Extensive remediation was done on the pool area, including the pool’s mechanical issues. Inside, the home floorplan is in a zipper fashion which results in multiple levels. It was determined that the floorplan layout needed a full redesign in order to improve functionality and the home’s visual aesthetics.

Located on a beautifully landscaped property, this former dream house and yard needed substantial renewal. Although the home had a large floor plate, it wasn’t working efficiently for the client’s lifestyle.
