The Gensler design team was charged with both core and shell architecture as well as the hotel’s interior design, which posed an intriguing challenge.
The textures and visual language of the boutique hotel design are a subtle evocation of the banking industry. Throughout the reception, a neutral colour scheme establishes a controlled and contemplative tone, highlighted with brass materials and velvets that add drama. Classic greys mix with herringbone patterns and tweed textures, evoking the suits that bankers used to wear.
The Swan Reserve, located on the grounds of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts, is a 349-key boutique hotel that provides the sophisticated elegance anticipated by the Marriott Autograph Collection.
The Swan Reserve welcomes tourists with a rippling, transparent façade highlighted with panels of turquoise and colours of cyan, inspired by the notion of wellspring and recalling the Swan and Dolphin – both aquatic species. Guests may enjoy the hospitality of the distinctive Mediterranean restaurant, relax in the cabanas by the pool, chill at an exquisite outdoor bar, or take in panoramic views from the rooftop event area, all of which are dynamically built to shift from day tonight.
Originally intended as a speculative office building, the facility suffered a substantial functional transition to a hotel as a result of Phoenix’s commercial real estate market’s dramatic decline. Nontraditional floor plates, limited guest access, and neighbour separation regulations posed design issues for the 278-key hotel. The arrival sequence from the courtyard to the private hotel lobby transfers visitors from the harsh Arizona heat into a cool, contemporary hospitality experience.
The makeover of this underperforming guestroom building resulted in an enhanced facility that included a new concierge-level club, six high-end suites, and two new and unusual standard guestroom models, one of which served as the template for the building’s other guestrooms. The complex work of rebuilding the historically significant main building lobby and entry foyer, as well as the hotel’s Aztec, Gold, and Grand Ballrooms, was part of the refurbishment. In addition to this project, Gensler rebuilt the original resort cottage structures, transforming them from typical four- and six-unit apartments to high-end, two-unit spa casitas.
The Hyatt Regency will be the Hyatt Corporation’s first hotel in the Galleria, helping to address market demand for full-service hotels while also serving as a useful resource for local business tenants and tourists. The 325-room hotel has 350-square-foot luxury bedrooms, 20 suites, and 15,000 square feet of flexible conference space with cutting-edge office technology and mobile furniture.
The Claremont Club & Spa, A Fairmont Hotel, is a Berkeley landmark with 22 acres of rich scenery and club amenities. In celebration of its centenary, the hotel’s bedrooms have been refurbished to recall a bygone period while providing the conveniences desired by today’s sophisticated travellers. The Presidential Suite is an entirely new room developed by merging two existing suites into a breathtaking masterpiece designed with an eye toward capturing the hotel’s traditional lines while appealing to a modern upmarket experience.
As part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, Gensler restored Baton Rouge’s first skyscraper to its former grandeur and converted it into an elite, boutique hotel. The design effortlessly integrates and juxtaposes Art Deco, Mid-Century, and modern furniture, lighting, and artwork, as well as commercial features linked to the building’s roots as the Louisiana National Bank in 1925 and expansion as the State Office Building in the 1960s. Several ancient components throughout the hotel, including eight bas-relief paintings, a sculpted marble entry staircase, and eight Greek-revival fluted columns, were blended into the contemporary design to preserve the building’s past.
The Sheraton Denver Hotel redefines livable luxury by fusing Denver’s heritage and old-world charm with current design principles. The Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, designed by I.M. Pei in 1960 as the Denver Hilton and Maven Department Store, is one of three distinctive structures in Denver’s Courthouse Square. The Kimpton Aertson Hotel provides visitors with a truly local and personalised experience, making them feel at ease and connected to Nashville’s rich history and culture. The design is inspired by the city’s creative culture as well as the historical significance of the adjacent Vanderbilt University campus. The Kimpton Aertson includes a carefully designed combination of textures, materials, and distinctive rooms that evoke Nashville’s rustic and eclectic character. Art is fundamental to the interior design, which features a gallery-style room meant to exhibit installations of handpicked items that fit into the general spirit of the hotel. A blue-toned natural palette is coupled with metal embellishments, and natural timbers lend a handcrafted sense.
